What do u think of the new units and whatnot that they are advertising? Heres a bunch of my opinions, for dtech to not read and then post tldr at.

The Hellion.



The hellion being able to transform into a mech is dumb IMO. For one thing, it goes against their new thing of trying to bring new units that dont just add to the "death ball" and are more specialized. The hellion is already a specialized unti that normally doesnt sync well with your death ball. Its for fast scouting and harrassing. Now all the sudden it can transform into a mech to move slow and withstand more damage to handle late game units without kiting.... so basically it does that just so you can include it in the death ball.

Also, the nature of the hellion makes the whole mech thing retarded. Its supposed to be a rickety redneck piece of shit with a flamethrower ducktaped to the top of it.

I dont care for it.

What I would do instead, is have a late game upgrade for it called "lighter materials" or some dumb shit, the premise being the upgrade allows the hellion to be manned by one extra redneck who only operates the flame turret, and therefore it can fire while moving. That would be much, MUCH less retarded, and they could even change the unit portrait so the gunner talks to you instead of the driver once you get the upgrade, and clever blizzard redneck hikinks ensue.



The Shredder



I dont care for this one either. I like the concepts behind it, being a good, powerful unit that A: helps take map control without tanks (so maybe tanks wont automatically be a part of every single terran army by default) and B: does not add to the "death ball." I like this whole idea of breaking up the attack-move-ball-of-death period. I prefer sieges and attrition where the two armies have to keep poking at each other and trying to outflank and all that, not simply "siege up the tanks then A-move" or "A-move, then blink the stalkers so i look pro" or whatever.

But anyway, yea, the idea is solid. But I dont like the way they are going about it. It doesnt function as part of a group not because it wouldnt sync well (it really fucking would) but only because of a stupid quirk (herp derp this unit deactivates when any friendly units are near hurhurhur). Id like to see the unit designed so that it doesnt work as part of a group because its too specialized, and simply works better for its purpose on its own, like reapers or hellions. Seems lazy to just say "well unit turns off so you cant have it with yur group" so hopefully thats not the route they go.

I forgot what its really called, but its war-something. Anyway, looks like it will fill the Thor's current role for the most part, just a smaller, faster, cheaper version (heavy mech that tanks damage on the ground and has strong AA capabilities against light air). And it will also have some anti-tank applications to help the terran v terran gameplay break away from 100% tank positioning wars. So far so good. IMO Id rather they just bring back the goliath and give it the same role, but w/e thats not a big deal to me. Im just tired of mechs in general, they are cool but i dont want 80% of the terran army to be frikken mechs.

Id rather see a new battle tank with a big-ass plate on the front to absorb ridiculous amounts of damage and then do good damage to armored units, built to compliment a bio army against things like enemy siege tanks, collossus, ultralisk, and whatnot. But hell, i just described a protoss immortal just about. Just saying.... to hell with more mechs. And Im not thrilled with the new thor either.

Also this particular mech is just retarded looking, i dont care for it at all.

Pointless. Just scrap the thor altogether. No point in making it so ridiculously powerful and then limiting it to one per player. Its not a hero unit (there ARE none in SC2 and im glad they are scrapping the mothership for the same reason) so either find a use for it or scrap it. w/e no big deal.

Id say my terran gameplay wont be changing much in HotS since I dont care for the new units. Ill have to adapt it to deal with the other races' new shit but other than that ill probably stick to my regular shit.

Thoughts on the new protoss and zerg shit incoming, just... not right this minute.

@Xycolian: yea, they are scrapping it. They are also talking about getting rid of the Carrier, but I cant see that happening. I think they'll bring the carrier back before the beta ends, if they let it go at all, which they might not, because I think too many ppl would get pissed off over that.

Noone cares about the stupid lame ass mothership tho.

Protoss is going to be OP with the unit that can replicate other units...

I'll just replicate an SCV and make a new tech tree....hehe

Well I reckon they'll either balance it somewhat reasonably or scrap it (im in favor of scrapping it- i dont like it either, id rather just steal the fkin unit with mind control)



I think they said it costs 4 supply, 200 gas, and 200 or more mins, which is pretty steep considering you cant replicate massive units with it, which is the only way it would be cost effective.



So basically, youd come at me with siege tanks, id lose a few units getting in visual range so i could replicate them, then id have a few siege tanks just like yours, only i paid a lot more for mine and then had to actually go out and get them instead of them being ready immediately.

Id say your best best would be to replicate like a ghost to emp all the other ghosts, some shit like that, but it would never be cost effective, and building another tech tree is never cost effective either, you can already do that with tha zarg.

They are saying the oracle thingy is ridiculous OP though.
