| Well Warhammer 40k Eldar have been around for well over 10 years.... so they sure as shit didn't steal it from them.
Coneheads maybe lol
I also realized you are on Dark Crusade Alyss... not Soulstorm (where dark eldar and sisters of battle come in.... and air units)
The broadsides do good against buildings though... and so do the Vespids... actually, Vespids are your early game turret shredders.... and your detector. Vespids also have a good ability to knock down some melee attackers to help protect your fire warriors.
Plus Tau have jump jet invisible scout and point cappers.... how sick is that? They also upgrade into a decent AV harassment unit in Tier2.
I might give Eldar a try... I don't think my laptop runs DoW2 good enough.... lowest settings and it still kinda chugs... doesn't jerk around much but I think it must be playing at a slower rate then it's supposed to be. _________________ |

Eldar are bullshit. What kind of game has stealthed buildings in a deathmatch-type scenario?
Basic units are trash until you upgrade them, then they're just cannon fodder (whereas the Pariahs and the Flayers make a better tanking unit.)
But yes, our only commander unit can be considered bullshit |

And the basic soldiers are unmatched in early game.... 1v1 maps they are stupidly OP... bigger maps their slowness keeps them from causing problems before you can deal with them.
1 of the things I like the most about DoW is how they have so many factions and yet they still all play so differently while still being somewhat balanced.
I've never been able to make Orks work though.... nor the 2 new SoulStorm factions... and Eldar I just must need to try another starting tactic cause I shouldn't be getting burned like that, I know they're capable. |
1v1 rush maps are boring, though. I think being hospitalized for cancer was a bigger form of entertainment then the 5 minute zerg-fests.
Orks are a bit tough. Only tactic I've gotten to work is to mash infantry and vehicles together then bumrush someone. |

| Yah, I've managed well on small to small-med maps... and I just swarm them.
If I lose momentum even once, it's over... and forget winning the FFA's
I like FFA's with the comp, and for those, IG and Tau both do pretty well with their siege weapons. FFA is pretty much Expand and hold... let the comp batter each other and against your defenses.... then march out with a siege army to blast em to fuck... or just cap and hold VPs _________________ |

| FFA is a lot easier in the later expansions compared to the original and the one that added the empire. Clusterfuck of possessed marines and the crab machine things.
With a FFA, I just keep about 3-5 squads on standby and just slowly expand. _________________ | gut wrote: | | Skresh is a 20 year old african american homosexual furfag, but hes ALSO... NARNFORNIA, a level 82 nig-elf afro-magician orc slayer in world of warcraft. |

| "crap machine things" = defiler.... Pretty useful short range arty support for Chaos. Most useful thing IMO about arty rounds is the scattering of infantry... great on both advancing melee and hvy weapon units. I keep a lil more then 3-5 units on standby for FFA though... I try to make myself big to a) increase income and b) it's more fun when their smashing themselves on your defenses. the FFA part just makes it so you're usually allowed time to build up defenses for them to smash against... with them splitting resources so no 1 army gets to big. Tho always 2-3 AI will end up conquering the others and grow in size to fight _________________ |

| I guess it is entertaining to watch an AI throw stuff at you until it "gives" up, but you know as well as I do that doesn't work well against human players _________________ | gut wrote: | | Skresh is a 20 year old african american homosexual furfag, but hes ALSO... Incidentally, got Soulstorm as well yesterday. Not a fan of either of the two new armies...Sisters of Battle are okay til you try to use their armour, then realise that they suck. Dark Eldar have no style, and are just generally sucky. I'm taking up Tau for the Soulstorm campaign. |

the new Tau air vehicle serves a nice hit-n-run anti-armor unit....
don't use it much though... air vehicles are usually over-priced.... especially in an army with so many good jump troops. (if so desired)_________________ |
